Line of the Day

My favorite line of the day came from Kurt. I was just starting dinner when I hear kurt say:
"Why am I the sitting pad?"

No No

There are certain things around the house Ethan can't play with. (ie: scissors, wire cutters, certain make-up and so on). I have recently caught him opening the drawers, seeing the afore mentioned items and saying (to himself):
'Stop! Ethan no no. Ethan stop, no NO!'
Then he will come find me, drag me to where the forbidden thing is and repeat the above phrase so I can be proud of him for not playing with them.

Costa Rica, translated: the rich coast

Costa Rica was one of the most beautiful, relaxing places I have ever been!! Possibly the best vacation Kurt and I have ever taken, maybe that's only because it started off with the most horrible, awful, no good, very bad day.
.
We got on an airplane at 11 am to Houston and all was going well.... until we get there and there's a huge storm so we end up circling the airport for an hour waiting to land.... missing our connection. The landing was awful and the plane shook (due to the storm) the whole time, which helped my pregnant belly release all the food it was holding all over Kurt. Any of you who know Kurt know how sensitive of a nose he has, so it would surprise you that instead of him throwing up or freaking out or throwing a hissy fit he sat and consoled me, making sure I was alright for the 20 minutes we sat on the airplane waiting for it to clear. Of all the things neither one of us wanted to ever experience......
.
As I said before, we missed our connection and had to wait a couple of hours before they could find our bags so we could overnight in Houston. Luckily they had a washer and dryer and we could wash our pukey smelling clothes so we could wear them again the next day. The next afternoon we spent in the lobby of that hotel, our flight wasn't until 6 that evening and I spent the entire afternoon on the phone with different airlines in Costa Rica trying to rearrange the rest of our connecting flights that we had now missed. It ended up costing us an extra $600, not including the money wasted for the non-refundable flights and the missed night at a hotel and at the resort. We were so discouraged that we almost got on a plane and just came home. However, we ended up deciding to make the best of Kurt's ruined birthday present and stick out the rest of the vacation. It was dark when we got to Costa Rica, but the next morning we woke up to this:
But we had to rush off to the little private charter plane that cost us a pretty penny
so we could get to our final destination, Flor Blanca, a beautiful resort right on the Pacific ocean.
This is the front room of our villa, every thing is open and surrounded by the beautiful jungle.
The part of the jungle that was growing in the bathroom.
The beautiful walkway out the front door. It was so pretty and open, we loved it!
.
The day we got there we went for a walk along the beach, which was 20 yards from our villa. On our walk we saw this cool rock. (you can kind of see my head in the hole of the rock.)
Kurt's first and only words were: "I'm going to climb it." And he did.
As we continued our walk we saw this cool rock:
Kurt's words again were "I'm going to climb it." My words were "No, you're not."
The day ended with a pretty sunset.
and a nice massage at the spa.
.
The next morning, we were woken up by a bit of a freaky sound. Listen and tell me what you would say if you were woken at 4 am by this:
Kurt's words were "Britt! There a wounded Jaguar in our room!!!" Keep in mind, our room is open, there could have very easily been a wounded Jag in our room. The funny thing is he made ME go out and check. It ended up being a howler monkey swinging through the trees greeting the sun. Scared us to death though.
.
The next day we took four wheelers (I know, pregnant women should not ride four wheelers)
to a zip line
and a pretty waterfall that kurt swam in.
This is the only decent picture I have of the waterfall place. I took some video, but it's all sideways cuz I'm a dummy. Kurt jumped off the top of the waterfall into the little pool, about 25 feet. Then he climbed up the rock, onto a tree branch and jumped into the little pool, 50+ feet. I took a picture and our guide (Adrienne, the coolest costa rican ever) said "one last picture before he jumps to his death, huh?"
When we got back we were really dirty.....
from the four wheeling and all the dust they kicked up. I'm not sure Kurt's shirt will ever be white again.
.
That night we went for another walk along the beach. Do you remember that rock I told Kurt he couldn't climb?
Looks like he climbed it anyway. I tried to get a picture of the massiveness of this rock, it was absolutely huge!!! I got a little scared as he climbed down, especially since it was surrounded my lots of big sharp rocks. One slip and he honestly would have died. He is such a daredevil. However, we were rewarded not only with a safe trip down but a beautiful sunset.
Then we made our way to the spa and ended with another massage.
.
This is about the time our camera battery died.... But Kurt went on a really cool horseback ride with Adrienne (no horses for the pregnant) and he did another zip line, ending the day with an exfoliating body scrub and massage and filet mignon for dinner. After that we flew home, and I didn't throw up on the plane. Made my day.
