Fun night with Dad!
Saturday, June 4, 2011
Friday we had a special day with daddy. Kurt took half a day off work and we went mini golfing at Cherry Hill. It was a fun afternoon and Eth was SO proud of himself. Every time the ball went in the hole he would yell "I did it!!! I won!!" It was really cute. Those of you who know Eth well also know he is a good climber. We got to hole 16 and there was this castle:

There's a maze the ball has to follow inside the castle, but you can't see it unless you stand right on top. So, being the awesome climber that he is, Kurt stood next to him while he climbed up, then we threw the ball in a couple times so he could watch. Pretty cool if you ask me. Well, he climbed down no problem and did his turn on that hole. Then it was my turn and Eth climbed up to watch again. Kurt was over at the hole doing his final putt, my ball had just finished doing the maze so I picked up Sethy and watched as Ethan climbed down. Then our perfect afternoon switches to horror as I find myself watching as Ethan falls backwards from the very top. You can't tell too much in the picture but this thing is 7 feet tall and made of concrete. I scream to Kurt and we try to run to him even though I know neither of us will get there in time. I watch as Ethan's head rushes to the concrete maze. And then I watch as it stops, hovering 8 inches from the bottom. I was completely bewildered. It looked like something out of a supernatural movie where someone used telekinetic powers to stop another persons fall. Then I saw the reason. Ethan's foot got caught between one of the spires and the castle, right here:

It reminded me of a friends facebook status from a while ago. It went something like this:
"Coincidences are God's way of staying anonymous. I don't think that's true. Coincidences are God's way of showing he's there."
I couldn't agree more. What a miracle for us. That fall at the very least would have cracked his head open. But it could have very easily snapped his neck. What a testimony I have of God's tender mercies.
