Ethan

Ethan is so funny right now. He loves to have baby Seth hold his finger and he loves to give him hugs and kisses. He also loves helping daddy do yard work. They spent the whole day mowing, weed wacking, trimming, and blowing and that little kid couldn't have been happier. He's been going through a bit of an independent streak lately.... it's getting pretty crazy. Every night before bed Kurt will hold Ethan in the hallway and sing a lullaby to him. Well last night on the way out to the hall he looked at Kurt and said "Stop! Stay here!" and he went out in the hall and sung himself the lullaby.... then he came in, gave Kurt a kiss and politely said "Go away please."

Brothers?

Here's a side by side comparison of my boys. Roughly the same age, Ethan is actually about 2 weeks old, whereas Seth is only 4 days. Which one's which? (I don't think they look very much alike)

Baby Seth

Though most of you already know this, I had my baby last friday!! He is adorable and we love him so much. Thursday morning I went in for my appointment and my doctor (whom I adore) swept my membranes. That night the first 'ouchy contractions' as I called them were around 8 and roughly 15 minutes apart. No big deal, right? With Ethan I was induced so I wasn't sure what to expect with going into labor naturally, but everyone says to stay home as long as possible otherwise you're in the hospital bed for 20+ hours and they don't let you eat anything. So at 11:30 I called my mom and said that the contractions were still 10 minutes apart and I was taking a bath to alleviate the pain (didn't work) and she told me to get to the hospital. I called my neighbor who came and stayed at the house until my mom got here, called my doctor, and then Kurt and I left for the hospital. By this time the contractions were 2 minutes apart and I was not happy but very grateful for a husband who can drive really well, really fast, and ran red lights without being asked (he was very safe and always checked for cars first). We pull into the parking lot at 12:20 and the door was locked!!! They lock up at midnight..... so Kurt sat there pushing the intercom button for 10 minutes before someone answered and brought a wheelchair out. Then the guy pushing the wheelchair was so slow getting me to labor and delivery that I almost went out of my mind! I check in, and luckily my doctor had already called in and told them I was coming, then they meandered me back to the temporary bed and had me get a robe on and laid me down to check me... then she threw back the curtain and started yelling for the nurses to get me a room and call the doctor. I looked at Kurt and we both shared a 'that doesn't sound good' look. Then it was chaos trying to get me an IV, transfer me to a different bed, hook up the monitors to check both my vitals as well as the baby's, and the whole time I'm begging for the epidural and all the nurses were so sweet and just said to wait for Karen and see if there was time. Then the pushing contractions started and Karen (my doctor) still wasn't there.... To say I was nervous would be a major understatement. Anyway, Karen arrived and I asked her if I could have an epidural and she finally said what everyone else was to scared to say "Girlfriend, you are on your own". So 10 minutes later (2 minutes of which were absolutely excruciating!) baby Seth was here, healthy and happy, more or less. Born at 12:45 (a whopping 25 minutes after we pulled into the parking lot) and weighing in at 7lbs 8 oz. I'm not sure who has the worse end of the deal, the mom giving birth or the babe being born. The rest of the hospital stay was a breeze. Recovery was no big deal. The nurse asked me every couple hours if I was sure I didn't want any motrin, but I guess after going through labor with no kind of pain meds what so ever, any other kind of pain was unnoticeable.
.
Ethan was such a champ. He is already such a good big brother. He is big into agency right now and a common phrase that he says is 'Ethan be sad. Ethan be sad if he wants.' So the words that go with this next picture are: "It's okay Sef, Sef be sad if he wants."
We've decided that Seth is a spittin' image of his uncle Jeff.

MUSE

This is by far my favorite band that I have ever been introduced to. Their sound is different and unique, which is something I have respect for. I get tired of hearing the same thing over and over..... simple plan, click 5, story of the year, blah blah. They all have a good song here and there, but I can't tell them apart. Muse on the other hand, have created basically their own genre, and I will admit, it took me a while to warm up to it. The thing that initially made me like them was their concert dvd.... it was amazing!!! They are so creative and put on a dang good show!!! Well, Kurty and I went to their concert in SLC on Monday with our best buddies (Leatham's and co') and I was even more blown away by this rocking band!!! Their stage was amazing!! They are almost better live than they are on their album, holy stinkin' cow!!! I stole this picture from Kris... I have no idea how to get pictures from my phone to my computer. Once I figure it out I will do some major posting. Isn't this piano cool? Glass top, and it has a distortion pedal. This guy is a concert pianist and an amazing composer. He is the main writer for the band and he literally composes every aspect of each song. Drums, guitar, piano, base, symphony, synthesizer. Amazing!!! Best concert ever!!! And I got to sit by a total hotty too...... A huge thanks to my mom for watching Ethan that night, even though it meant getting snowed in and having to stay over. Your the best mom!!! Elder Ballard must have written his talk with you in mind. :)

"Mom, come here!"
"Where did Ethan's toes go?" (hehe)

Easter

So a friend of mine has a brother who works for a lawyer up in Logan, we'll call him Tim. Tim has a son with Down Syndrome, we'll call him Dan. So Dan calls his dad last Friday and says "Dad!! You have to come home!!! I caught a troll, you have to come home and see!!" Tim replies, "That's great Dan, but I'm in a meeting, I will come home after work." Throughout the day Tim got more phone calls from Dan asking him to come home and see this troll that he caught, to which Tim always replied that he would see him right at 5 as soon as the work day was over. So 5 rolls around and Tim makes it home and Dan is waiting for him at the front door. He starts pulling his dad downstairs, the whole time saying, "Dad, come see!! The troll is down in my room!" They go in Dan's room and the bed is pushed up against the closet door ('Dad look! What did I tell you?! He's in there!) and then Tim hears a knock from the closet door....... He quickly moves the bed and opens the closet and there's the Jehovah's Witness, who happens to be a dwarf, or troll as Dan refers to them.

This Easter was so fun!!!! We colored Easter eggs on Saturday. I tried to get him to give me a good smile....
"Cheese"
"Happy Face"
"Smile"
Then Sunday morning we had a little Easter egg hunt and finding of the easter basket. I only put one jelly bean in each egg.... I didn't need him having too much sugar that early in the morning.
After the first session of conference we went to the Daems house and had a really yummy ham for lunch, easter egg hunt, and hung with the family. Then we stayed and watched the last session with Kurt's parents and Eric and Whitney. It was such a fun, relaxing Easter.
